Thursday

God of Israel,
You have been calling us for a long time. Your voice has echoed through the ages as you speak to our hearts, calling Moses and Elijah, James and John, Augustine and Luther, and me. May I seek to live a life worthy of my calling. May I have the calm to hear your voice, the patience to listen honestly, the courage to undertake the call, the perseverance to endure the challenges, the humility to give you the glory, and the wisdom to undertake your call once more every day, regardless of what the previous day held. May I arise each morning and walk once more in your splendor, delight in your love and celebrate your grace.
Amen.

Wednesday Morning

Holy God--
Reveal to me your dreams for my life. Your vision stretches farther than I can imagine. You see bigger pictures than I can fathom. What you have in store for me is beyond my imagination; help me to see this. Open my eyes so I see beyond the day to day, week to week, and instead work towards the hope you have for me. You have blessed me with gifts; help me to use them. You have surrounded me with blessed souls; help me to listen to them. You have granted me time; may I take advantage of that. When I cry out to you, may I follow that with a period of silence so I may hear your voice and your dreams shouting back at me.
Amen.

Tuesday

Awesome God--
Thank you for the wind. It is the author of amazing things. When it is cold, it cuts to the bone and sends me scampering inside. When it is warm, I rejoice in its presence. It wears away the mighty rocks and spreads the leaves across the ground. It is constantly changing this earth.
You, Lord, have set the winds in motion. When it chills me, it reminds me how small I am in this world and how precious I am in your sight. When it refreshes me, it is a reminder of the cool streams you lead me beside and how you long for me to thrive. When I see how it has eroded the rocks, I remember that all things will be redeemed in you. When I see the leaves fall and scatter, I know that you will collect them to yourself.
You, O Lord, are the wonder and the joy behind creation. You are the peace and wonder in my heart. You are love, and I love you.
Amen.

Monday morning

Great and Holy Lord,
I haven't known a day without you. I've tried, Lord, but when I rise in the morning I can only do so by your hand. I've lived in blissful ignorance of your guiding presence, and yet wherever I go, you are there. I've been content to selfishly focus on my own thoughts and feelings, and yet there you are, right in the middle of everything. You are the Creator and the Sustainer, the reason for the world and the support of the world. It is the same with me. Without you, I would not be. Take away your hand, and I would melt away. But you are with me, your love watches over me, your grace sustains me. Remind me of all that you are and of all I can be; I can only be fully alive when I am alive in you. Teach me calm and patience, and love that knows no end. Teach me your ways, so that I will celebrate you all of my days.
Amen.
