Devotional--Caleb, Part V

Isaiah 41.10
Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

  Sometimes, Caleb fusses for no good reason.  He's got a clean diaper, he's rested, he's warm, he's well-fed.  It's as though he is testing us, to see if we will respond to his needs, if we will be there to assure him and love him.  Or maybe he's just finding his voice, or trying to assert his dominance to the cats, who are still a little uncertain about sharing the house.

  'Do not fear' is used throughout the Bible--God is constantly reminding us that He is with us, that nothing can harm us, that we should rest easy in His grace.  We still get nervous, and we fuss about trivial things, believing that we can assure ourselves, when the reality is that only God can give us the necessary confidence to have no fear.  What is it that we are afraid of?  No matter how big our fears are, God's love is bigger, and he has already won the battle--nothing can defeat us, nothing can conquer us, and nothing shall separate us from God's love.  May we have confidence in God, and allow our nervous hearts to be soothed.

Blessings
