Great God of Israel,
In the wilderness we doubt you. We see the oases of culture offering easy relief, and we wonder where faith is leading us. We are so ready to believe, we want to believe, yet it is so hard to take steps deeper into the wilderness you often call us into when culture seems to offer such ease. It is so difficult to walk this narrow road, and so often I turn from it. Forgive me, my Lord, and teach me again your ways. Teach me patience as I struggle along with my human will, constantly fighting against what I know to be true. You, O Lord, are my guide, my rock, and my shield. Convert my heart once again, so that the steps I take may be with you.
