The old saying is that a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step (or perhaps the purchase of an airline ticket). To start any project, you have to start somewhere. Perhaps the best place to start with turning from evil is by watching your words -- they lead us, and they lead our hearts, in the direction we want to go. Maybe a good New Year's resolution is to take an extra moment and think before you speak, especially when speaking of another person, that your words may be measured and wise and kind, rather than speak evil, especially without thinking, and lead your heart from good. May our words lead our hearts to kindness, to peace, to grace.
